Diversity and Inclusion has been identified as one of the Firm’s top priorities. This role is in the global D&I team which is part of the HR function. The Advisor will contribute to the development and implementation of key strands of the Firm’s diversity and inclusion strategy with a focus on the UK. They will act as a trusted adviser to stakeholders in the business and colleagues within HR. Key Responsibilities Working closely with colleagues on the coordination, implementation and development of projects aligned to our key target areas – gender, LGBTQ , social mobility, race and ethnicity and disability – to further the Firm’s global and UK diversity and inclusion strategy, targets and commitments. Strong focus on promoting an inclusive culture and belonging across the UK, working with champions, sponsors, HR colleagues and D&I leaders across the Firm to deliver on programmes, initiatives, training, and events. End-to-end management of tasks for UK initiatives ensuring all stakeholders are updated on progress and tasks are delivered on time and within scope. Liaising with the Firm’s UK affinity networks to ensure local diversity and inclusion activities reflect the Firm’s global strategy. Using quantitative and qualitative data to track progress in D&I, working with the global reporting team on regular diversity metrics reporting and analysis. Responsible for external data reporting for the UK. Working closely with the internal and external communications team to ensure thoughtful messaging around diversity and inclusion in the UK. Developing links with and acting as first point of contact for key professional bodies and charities/external consultants in the UK. Reviewing opportunities for D&I awards and benchmarking indexes and leading on relevant submissions for the Firm. Representing the Firm, where appropriate, at external events, forums and working groups. Collaborating with the Responsible Business teams to further the Firm’s responsible business strategy in the UK as appropriate. Manage ad hoc queries that relate to D&I. Support on client requests where appropriate. Keeping up to date with the latest developments in diversity and inclusion research and thinking. Requirements Educated to degree level or equivalent At least 2 years experience working in a diversity and inclusion role or significant experience of diversity and inclusion in an equivalent position. It is critical for this role to have some understanding the diversity and inclusion landscape in the UK Strong written and oral communication skills Strong influencing skills Strong data analysis and numerical ability Highly organised and able to perform in a fast-paced environment Ability to demonstrate judgement and navigate complex, sensitive matters Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously Able to collaborate well with other teams within HR and across the Firm more broadly Proficient IT skills Inclusion Freshfields is an equal opportunities employer and all applications received by the firm will be considered by the firm on the basis of their merit alone and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of background.
