The Diversity & Inclusion Manager helps us to achieve our vision by leading Equality Diversity & Inclusion Framework, strategies, projects and change management activities and providing expert advice to Leadership Teams, Diversity Networks and stakeholders across NHS Blood and Transplant. We require someone with a good understanding of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I), LGBTQ and Ethnic Communities, ED&I Policy, Workforce and Wellbeing. You’ll lead on areas related to ED&I with energy and a passion to influence others, work collaboratively, with skills to engage all stakeholders inside and outside of NHS Blood and Transplant at all levels. Working with the Equality and Diversity Working Group, the Head of HR Performance Management and the Group for Race and Equality (GRacE) Network chairs, this is an opportunity for you to make a difference to supporting NHSBT with its strategic aim of increasing diversity in the workforce and supporting service delivery to meet the needs of diverse communities. The postholder will take national responsibility for ensuring best practice approach to diversity and inclusion, taking a proactive approach to anticipated changes in employment law and other legislation and human resource practices, make plans accordingly and propose a variety of solutions and options. Applicants should possess the ability to build networks with others, good influencing skills, report writing ability, analytical data skills, a strong understanding of the diversity agenda and a working knowledge of Equality legislation. Key Responsibilities: Identify and project manage the work streams underpinning NHSBT’s diversity & inclusion agenda. Provide leadership and advice across NHSBT in the development of a culture that maximises upon diversity and inclusion. Provide expert advice to and influence the decisions of Senior Managers, and staff in relation to diversity and inclusion. Take national responsibility for ensuring best practice approach to diversity and inclusion. Contribute to the Workforce Senior Management Team to contribute to strategy and implementation. Analyse data gathered to produce intelligence and recommend appropriate courses of action for NHSBT for diversity & inclusion matters, this includes WRES, WDES and WEI. To be an expert and main source of reference for diversity-related enquiries for all staff. Research new diversity and inclusion initiatives and put forward proposals for implementation. Ensure that diversity-related policies are updated to keep NHSBT compliant with legislation. Monitor and report on diversity statistics and manage a delegated budget for Diversity activity. Influence and contribute to the design and implementation of diversity strategies, policies and procedures throughout NHSBT. Design where necessary and implement surveys and other methods to seek feedback and information from the workforce Foster and maintain relationships with external organisations and partners as appropriate (e.g. Business Disability Forum, Race for Opportunity). Key Requirements: Experience in a management/leadership role and educated to degree level or equivalent qualification. Experience of facilitating and chairing meetings involving contentious and challenging issues would be desirable. Knowledge of specific legislative requirements in relation to equality and diversity. Ability to analyse and present data and experience of writing reports, preparing and delivering presentations. Be highly articulate and credible, consistently influencing and delivering inspiring, engaging, and meaningful information regarding future direction. Engage widely with customers to seek input into setting strategic objectives and identifying new ideas and improved ways of working. Demonstrate strong leadership, influence, and accountability for the achievement of results. Ability to recognise when change is required and demonstrate personal ownership for pursuing, communicating and implementing the change.
