Purpose of the Role Diversity, equality and inclusion is of fundamental importance to how Ofcom operates as an employer and as the UK’s communications regulator. In 2020, we published our first Diversity & Inclusion Strategy. This set the core principles and vision for Ofcom as an organization and established our ambition to ensure diversity and inclusion remain an important aspect of our organizational purpose of making communications work for everyone. You will be joining as a senior manager within the Culture, Wellbeing and Diversity team, which forms part of the People & Transformation function. The successful candidate will be expected to bring a passion for inclusion and the desire to drive and be at the forefront of the development and implementation of our diversity and inclusion programme. The role will be expected to confidently utilise data and best practice to embed practical and impactful interventions that ensure our policies and practices are ‘fair by design’. The role holder will also have oversight of a small team and will be expected to role model inclusive leadership and our values of agility, collaboration, empowerment, excellence and respect. This role will work directly with the Head of Culture, Diversity & Wellbeing to influence diverse stakeholders and leaders with the mission of embedding inclusion, best practice and operational excellence across Ofcom. The role will partner closely with colleagues across the People & Transformation team, to ensure work is designed appropriately and delivers positive outcomes that align to our leadership strategy and the overall One Ofcom vision. Requirements of the Role Oversight of a small team to coordinate the Diversity & Inclusion programme, overseeing implementation of new policies and interventions Apply influencing and persuasion skills to encourage engagement and collaboration throughout the organisation and across the People & Transformation team Champion an insight and evidence led approach to diversity inclusion agenda Draw on insight and experience of leading culture change programmes Oversight of briefings and submissions on the progress of the diversity and inclusion strategy Bring thought leadership, innovation and creativity to all work responsible for – take accountability and ownership for delivery of culture change interventions Actively work across the People & Transformation team alongside the wider organisation to bring together cultural work and make connections to ensure practices are aligned where possible Knowledge of legislation Responsibilities Lead, design and drive forward strategic and evidence-based approaches to Diversity & Inclusion matters Ensure strategic deliverables are compliant with employment and equality legislation (Equality Act 2010) and are aligned to best practice Work collaboratively to benchmark and assess progress and outcomes against strategic goals Provide policy advice and consultancy for/on diversity and inclusion developments Communicate and engage with a wide range of groups – to include senior leaders, unions, colleague forums, staff network Skills, knowledge and experience Significant experience of implementing diversity and inclusion practices Can confidently speak to planning skills to meet multiple deadlines and timescales whilst managing various priorities Strong relationship development skills to build value adding partnerships across the organisation and broader external stakeholders Confidence in articulating the wider strategic objectives, whilst speaking to specific elements in detail Continually look for process improvements and opportunities to join up for one common voice to deliver the wider People Strategy Strong collaboration skills whilst understanding the need to work at pace to delivery strategic objectives Excellent facilitation and presentation skills Third party supplier management experience Possess strong influencing skills across all levels of the organisation whilst also considering a wide range of perspectives Insight driven – able to confidently make decisions based on data and insights Demonstrable creativity and innovation skills
