Job Title: Diversity Practitioner Location: Hybrid l Home-based with some onsite presence at the office based in Manchester (with possible occasional travel to London) Hourly Pay Rate: 14.33 to 16.96 dependent on experience Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) Length of the contract: 12 months Grafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint an experienced and versatile Diversity Practitioner to our client based in Manchester. The Diversity Practitioner should have the ability to quickly establish themselves with individuals, teams, and groups, including Managers, Senior Leaders and their newly launched Staff Networks. The Diversity Practitioner will undertake a wide variety of activities, including providing advice to People Managers, drafting submissions, supporting the completion of high-quality Equality Impact Assessments, contributing to the design and delivery of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training, and facilitating activity with their Staff Networks, including larger group ‘listening events’. The post-holder should also have good working knowledge of current workforce EDI issues (including the Equality Act) and be familiar with emerging and best practice EDI approaches, as well as have demonstrable practitioner experience in this field. Most importantly, the post-holder must have the ability to facilitate open and honest conversations about issues that can be emotive and challenging, with staff at all levels. Duties of the Diversity Practitioner Operating as an internal expert, advising People Managers and staff on a wide range of workplace EDI issues. Working with colleagues across the HR team to develop their approach to inclusive recruitment, including the development of the Inclusive Recruitment Volunteer Scheme to support more diverse interview panels. Establishing and improving processes to support improved accessibility and equality of opportunity, including workforce Equality Impact Assessments (EIA). Supporting a broad range of activity which aims to embed best practice EDI across all of the learning and development offers, the health and wellbeing portfolio, staff engagement activity, and emerging work to support hybrid working. Managing, developing and delivering a variety of positive action staff development offers and projects, including an in-house Shadowing Meetings Scheme and Reciprocal Mentoring Scheme for Black, Asian and ethnic minority staff. Supporting with the commissioning, design, development, and delivery of a range of new EDI training and development offers. Providing design, delivery and facilitation of a range of group activities, including working groups, focus groups and listening events. Maintaining and developing the EDI intranet pages, ensuring the content is engaging, up to date and informative. Overseeing the procurement and contract management if services and products relating to EDI activity, as required. Role Criteria Educated to postgraduate degree level in a relevant subject (such as equality, diversity and inclusion, organisational development, psychology) or equivalent level of experience working in a similar role. Experience advising People Managers and staff on a wide variety of EDI issues. Experience of implementing and embedding best practice EDI e.g. inclusive recruitment, workplace reasonable adjustments, Equality Impact Assessments etc. Experience in designing and delivering EDI training and development activity. Experience in facilitating EDI group activity and ‘listening’ activity. Experience of working with Staff Networks. Experience of hosting and managing challenging and sensitive conversations and group discussions, including in the context of EDI activity. Experience in procurement and provider management. Good up to date working knowledge of current and emerging EDI issues and workforce best practice, including the Equality Act and statutory landscape. Up to date knowledge and demonstrable practitioner experience across workforce EDI (e.g. recruitment, learning and development, workplace adjustments, staff networks). Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to produce and deliver high quality corporate reports, formal presentations, and engagement/promotional materials. High levels of cultural competence, ability to work across difference and ability to build trust. Ability to collate, analyse, interpret, and present complex workforce equality data. Public Sector knowledge and experience.
