Job Introduction The EDI Lead role is an exciting opportunity to be part of an energetic team of three, working to deliver the ambitious expectations of our client, HS2, around equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We’re looking for someone with previous EDI experience who enjoys working in a diverse and dynamic environment, to enhance our existing training and engagement plan, work with our employee-led networks and lead EDI related initiatives across our sites. You will have the opportunity to plan and implement innovative EDI programs, work closely with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to achieving an inclusive culture on our sites and offices across London. There are ongoing opportunities in this role for training to broaden your knowledge base and stay up to date with developments and trends related to EDI. As part of the wider Social Sustainability team, you will be part of a collaborative group of people sharing expertise and supporting one another to ensure that our HS2 London Tunnels project leaves a lasting positive legacy. Role Responsibility Key Responsibilities Project manage diversity and inclusion initiatives across the project, with a focus on our sites and offices in West London. Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops to staff, stakeholders and supply chain. Identify opportunities to collaborate with other departments, as well as our four staff networks, to ensure activities enhance our EDI strategy and overall workplace culture. Develop, implement, and evaluate an EDI Training and Engagement plan covering topics such as recruitment, leadership, and culture to ensure employees, subcontractors and suppliers understand how EDI is relevant to our works. Contribute to the successful delivery our EDI strategy by reviewing trends in our recruitment and procurement data and signpost where improvements are required. Promote good relations and practices towards different minority groups – assessing needs and promoting cohesion, raising awareness of equality issues and promoting change within the SCS JV and its supply chain. Maintain our Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) accreditation. The Ideal Candidate Required qualifications, skills, behaviours and attributes EDI knowledge: A strong understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion with the ability to explain specific benefits to a wide range of audiences. Stakeholder management: Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (for example, HR, procurement, employee networks, health, safety and wellbeing). Be able to inform, influence and persuade key stakeholders across a spectrum of seniority levels, perspectives or backgrounds. Results driven: Ability to project manage and evaluate the impact of key diversity and inclusion initiatives. End-to-end experience of planning, implementing, and evaluating EDI initiatives. Training experience: Able to develop, deliver and evaluate diversity and inclusion training in multiple formats to suit a range of different audiences. Organized, strong time management and able to manage several projects simultaneously. Initiative to see where improvements are required, and able to quickly identify and adopt lessons learnt. A team player with the ability to work closely with the wider team to collaborate to deliver results. Critical and creative thinking – ability to see how processes and procedures can be enhanced with a diversity and inclusion lens. Desired experience: Experience working with staff networks is desired but not essential. Working in a head office and operational environment (for example, in an office and on site). About the Company The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Civils Contracts which include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The combined value of the contracts is around 1.8billion with the works due for completion in 2025. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
