Equality Diversity and Inclusion Senior Strategy Advisor Salary: 50,702 per annum Hours: Full time, part time & job shares are welcomed (minimum 0.6 FTE) Location: Swindon/hybrid working Contract: Open Ended Closing Date: Sunday 10th October 2021 We are seeking to recruit an Equality Diversity and Inclusion Senior Strategy Advisor to contribute to creating the conditions for sustainable culture change in research and innovation, and lead our work on tackling bullying and harassment. Diversity, inclusion, and the culture and environment of the research and innovation sector are at the heart of the vision for UKRI. Attracting, retaining, and developing diverse people and teams are also an area of focus for Government, as set out in the recently published People and Culture strategy and the Research and Development Roadmap. Teams within the Research Culture and Environment policy area focus on leading and engaging with our partners to catalyse changes in the research and innovation system. We have ambitious strategic goals to drive forward UKRI’s commitments to Open Research, Research Culture, Research Integrity and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). We work together, providing strategic leadership and engaging widely across UKRI and the research and innovation sector. This role Our Research Culture and Environment teams work with partners to foster a dynamic, diverse and inclusive system of research and innovation in the UK that is an integral part of society, giving everyone the opportunity to participate and to benefit. UKRI is uniquely positioned to catalyse efforts to improve culture, building on good work already under way, covering multiple disciplines and cross-sector research and innovation. In the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team, we are working to address the systemic failures that compromise our ability to foster healthy, diverse and inclusive work environments. Our approach is multi-faceted and includes reflecting on our own systems and processes; how these systems influence the wider system, and how we can improve participation and address issues of under representation. This role will support this ambition by leading strategy and policy across UKRI and with stakeholders. You will focus primarily on leading our Tackling Bullying and Harassment programme, working to support culture change, by focusing on the prevention of bullying and harassment through creating healthy research and innovation environments. Experience required for this role: Able to use understanding and knowledge of the research and innovation sector and the wider political and social context to create relevant policies, interventions and plans to tackle bullying and harassment Can confidently engage with and build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to achieve progress on shared interests. This includes those at national and international levels, and in the private sector, academia and third sector. Excellent communicator – able to work across a range of activities (including policy development, presentations, synthesising evidence, developing communication packages for internal and external audiences) Relevant degree or equivalent transferable experience Knowledge of the Research and Innovation funding landscape. Experience of working in a relevant monitoring or regulatory environment is desirable.
