The UK’s Intelligence Agencies have different focuses, but we share the same mission – to keep our country safe. MI5 protects the UK from threats to national security, MI6 focuses on threats from overseas and GCHQ is a world-leading cyber agency. Increasing the diversity of our workforce is more important than ever, which is why we’re running a Summer Diversity Intelligence Internship this summer. Whichever agency you choose, one thing will remain the same – how valued you’ll be, and the huge impact you’ll have. Over 11 weeks, you’ll learn all about us – and discover new things about yourself. You’ll become a real member of the team as you contribute to core missions. Whether you choose MI5, MI6 or GCHQ, you’ll see how front-line operations are run, piece together intelligence and create a picture of possible threats. By the end of the internship, you’ll understand the part each organisation plays in protecting national security. What’s more, your confidence and skills will have grown. You’ll gain a truly unique insight into our work. With our support, you’ll create strategies, explain risks to a range of audiences and work as part of a friendly, multi-disciplinary team. Plus, mentors, managers and buddies will be on-hand to help you get the most out of your experience. As the internship ends, you’ll get the chance to apply for a permanent role with your chosen agency. In fact, almost everyone who does this internship goes on to apply within our organisations. If you’re naturally curious, love working with (and learning from) other people, and you’re a real team player, you already have the core skills we look for. At MI5, we’re after enthusiastic, inquisitive problem solvers with an appetite for learning. To work for MI6, you’ll be interested in different cultures and keen to understand what makes people tick, as well as having sound judgement and communication skills. And at GCHQ, you’ll have a genuine passion for data, analysis and what it can reveal. Most importantly, we’re all after people who are ready to unlock their potential and have a positive impact on the UK. The internship will run from the 19th June – 1st September 2023.We offer pro rata annual leave, which means you’ll get five days off, plus a competitive salary. And of course, you’ll be part of the team – so you’ll be free to enjoy organisation-wide events where you can learn and network, as well as our clubs and societies.
